Joint field visits in the Warwick and Granite Belt regions

Inspectors from Workplace Health and Safety Queensland’s (WHSQ) Agricultural Unit and Labour Hire Licensing Compliance Unit (LHLCU) recently visited 32 sites in the Warwick and Granite Belt regions over four days.

Inspectors provided farms and labour hire providers with a holistic approach to workplace health and safety and labour hire licencing matters. Farms and labour hire providers valued the visit and the opportunity to better understand their obligations.

Inspectors also benefited from the collaborative approach, working together to ensure the safety of workers on farms.  WHSQ Agricultural Unit inspectors gained a better understanding of the issues affecting labour hire workers, while LHLCU inspectors learned more about the health and safety risks on farms.

During the visits, the LHLCU identified a labour hire provider that continued to provide workers to farms after its labour hire license was cancelled. The LHLCU’s guidance for users of labour hire services reminds users to regularly check the register of licensed labour hire providers to ensure the providers they engage remain licensed.
