Queensland’s labour hire licensing scheme continues to achieve significant outcomes in protecting vulnerable workers and ensuring the integrity of the labour hire industry. It does this by working closely with stakeholders, other regulators and the community.

Licensed labour hire providers that do not comply with their obligations may have their licence cancelled or suspended. The licensing action report from October to December 2025 includes labour hire licences suspended or cancelled by the Labour Hire Licensing Compliance Unit (LHLCU).

LHLCU inspectors worked with partner agencies to carry out labour hire compliance field visits across Mareeba and surrounding regions. The visits focused on education, engagement with growers and workers, and identifying unlicensed labour hire activity, with enforcement action already taken in the region.
Since the labour hire licensing scheme commenced in Queensland in 2018, there have been 30 prosecutions for breaches of the Act with fines totalling $2,320,000 imposed by the courts including the recent notable prosecution detailed below.
