February 2026

Queensland’s labour hire licensing scheme continues to achieve significant outcomes in protecting vulnerable workers and ensuring the integrity of the labour hire industry. It does this by working closely with stakeholders, other regulators and the community.

This edition covers providers subject to licensing action from October to December 2025, a prosecution in the security industry, and joint field visits in Mareeba, the Granite Belt and Warwick areas. It also includes an article on mental health in the agricultural industry.

Licensing update October to December 2025

  • 1135 licence applications submitted
  • 798 licences granted
  • 696 licence renewals granted
  • 8 licence applications refused and 5 licences cancelled

Providers subject to licensing action from October to December 2025

Licensed labour hire providers that do not comply with their obligations may have their licence cancelled or suspended. The licensing action report from October to December 2025 includes labour hire licences suspended or cancelled by the Labour Hire Licensing Compliance Unit (LHLCU).

Supporting mental health in agricultural workplaces

This article shares key insights from Queensland Mental Health Week’s webinar on mental health in agriculture. It highlights practical strategies to manage psychosocial hazards, address isolation and fatigue, and support mentally safe and resilient rural workplaces.

Joint field visits in the Warwick and Granite Belt regions

LHLCU inspectors joined with the Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) Agricultural Unit and other agencies to carry out field visits across agricultural regions in Queensland. Read the full article for details on education, compliance checks and enforcement outcomes.

Multi-agency field visits in Mareeba and surrounds

LHLCU inspectors worked with partner agencies to carry out labour hire compliance field visits across Mareeba and surrounding regions. The visits focused on education, engagement with growers and workers, and identifying unlicensed labour hire activity, with enforcement action already taken in the region.

Prosecutions during 2025-26

Since the labour hire licensing scheme commenced in Queensland in 2018, there have been 30 prosecutions for breaches of the Act with fines totalling $2,320,000 imposed by the courts including the recent notable prosecution detailed below.
