Providers subject to licensing action from July to September 2024

Licensed labour hire providers that do not comply with their obligations may have their licence suspended or cancelled. The licensing action report from July to September 2024 includes labour hire licences suspended by the Labour Hire Licensing Compliance Unit (LHLCU) and labour hire licences cancelled by the LHLCU.

Compliance with legal obligations

Unless the LHLCU is satisfied that an applicant meets the licensing criteria – including that relevant persons are compliant with their legal obligations and are fit and proper persons, and the business is financially viable – their application may be refused.

Conditions may be imposed either at the time of granting the licence or after grant – conditions help the LHLCU monitor the compliance of the provider.

Publishing details of LHLCU licensing decisions increases the public’s awareness of the licensing scheme, which include:

  • promoting compliance with the Act and other legal obligations
  • protecting labour hire workers and labour hire businesses who operate ethically and responsibly
  • maintaining the Register of Licensed Labour Hire Providers.

Businesses should use the tools on the LHLCU website to ensure providers have a valid licence:

  • Check the online register and ensure the business is licensed.
  • Report any suspected non-compliant or unlawful activity using the lodge a report tool or phone 1300 576 088.
