Providers subject to licensing action from January to March 2026

Compliance with legal obligations

Licensed labour hire providers that do not comply with their obligations may have their licence suspended or cancelled. The Labour Hire Licensing Compliance Unit (LHLCU) will refuse an application unless it is satisfied that an applicant meets the licensing criteria. This includes confirming that relevant persons comply with their legal obligations, are fit and proper persons, and that the business is financially viable.

Conditions may be imposed either at the time of granting the licence or after grant. These conditions help LHLCU monitor the compliance of the provider.

Publishing details of LHLCU licensing decisions increases the public’s awareness of the licensing scheme, which include:

  • promoting compliance with the Labour Hire Licensing Act 2017 (the LHL Act) and other legal obligations
  • protecting labour hire workers and businesses who operate ethically and responsibly
  • maintaining the Register of Licensed Labour Hire Providers.

Businesses should use the tools on the LHLCU website to ensure providers have a valid licence:

  • Check the online register and ensure the business is licensed.
  • Report suspected non-compliant or unlawful activity using the lodge a report tool or phone 1300 576 088.
